First and Second Session with the female model.

I had great first and second sessions with model Leah, who is an aerial acrobat. We are working on a sculpture of two acrobats in an integrated pose. Leah sharing her expertise and body awareness are helping me to get the figure in the correct position. The pose the models suggested during the photo shoot turned out to be even better than my original idea. The first two sessions involved getting the armature wire in the correct position to capture the flowing lines of Leah’s body. After the wire was correct the clay placement began. Leah actively participated, providing feedback and suggestions throughout the process.

Here is the pose and some progress.

Leah’s inverted position in the photograph is simply for practicality and posing purposes. It is not feasible for Leah to hold the actual pose on her own and even with the male model’s assistance it would only be temporary. However, she can sustain the pose shown in the picture long enough for me to work on the sculpture.

This is the progress from the second session. In the future stages I will flip the armature support system to position the piece correctly. The sequence of this process remains uncertain, adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the project. Stay tuned for updates and the continuation of the story.
